Meredith Hurd with MH2 Engineering, LLC has experience in engineering design and analysis of New Roadway Alignments, Multi-Use Paths, Open & Closed Stormwater Conveyance, Stormwater Treatment Facilities, Floodplains with Hydraulic Analysis, Wetland Minimization & Mitigation, and obtaining Individual ERPs.

Drainage Design
Stormwater is an integral part of Transportation Design. Managing stormwater runoff is required to provide a level of service to our communities, with the goal of eliminating road closures, treating discharges from motorized vehicles, and protecting roadway infrastructure from the effects of standing water. MH2 Engineering has experience in small scale stormwater design for sidewalk additions and roadway resurfacing as weel as large scale designs for widening and new roadway alignments. MH2 has analyzed existing floodplains and can offer design solutions to improve flood conditions.

Stormwater Permitting
MH2 understands the stormwater permitting criteria required for each type of project is very different and strives to minimize costs to clients by utilizing stormwater exemptions wherever possible. When stormwater permitting is required, MH2 Engineering has the ability to obtain the Stormwater Permit or Exemption required from Federal, State, or Local Agencies. MH2 Engineering has the knowledge to provide Stormwater Management Treatment solutions that fit the needs of each individual project. MH2 can assess surface runoff and provide drainage solutions, analyze large floodplains, assess bridge hydraulics, and evaluate existing drainage infrastructure.
MH2 is aware of recent updates to Florida stormwater requirements for performance standards, dam system criteria, operation and maintenance, and certification of financial capability and can produce the stormwater design and documentation required to obtain General and Individual ERPs in Florida.
Bridge Hydraulics
MH2 Engineering provides hydraulic analysis of existing bridges and design recommendations for new bridges, bridge widenings, and bridge replacements. MH2 uses applicable design and safety criteria to provide safe and effective hydraulic designs considering flood designation, runoff rate, velocity, and bed material to size bridge openings and recommend appropriate bridge foundations and scour countermeasures.

Roadway Design
MH2 Engineering provides rural and urban roadway designs for new alignments, roadway widenings, and restorations as well as sidewalk and trail designs. MH2 uses applicable design and safety criteria to provide a safe means of transportation for motorists and pedestrians. Right-of-way, existing infrastructure, utility coordination, and construction costs are considered for each design with an effort to provide a cost-effective design that minimizes impacts. New alignments consider existing topography and transportation needs to set vertical and horizontal alignments. Roadway widenings consider available right-of-way, updated stormwater and safety criteria and construction phasing to determine the most efficient side for widening.

Utility Coordination
Utility coordination is an ongoing process required for any projects with underground infrastructure. Identifying utility owners, confirming active services, locations, and depths are all necessary to provide a cost-effective utility and transportation design. MH2 understands the importance of early and consistent communication with utility owners throughout the design process. By reviewing survey, utility markups, and requesting subsurface utility exploration where conflicts are expected MH2 will minimize surprises during construction.
